On a beautiful Fall day in November, Maggie and Alex said “I do” with a charming and historic Decatur House Washington DC wedding. The Decatur House is actually the home of the White House Historical Association, and just down the street from the actual White House. This makes it one of the oldest and most prestigious homes in all of Washington, DC. Maggie and Alex held their ceremony in the quaint courtyard, but their reception actually occurred in what was the carriage house! All of the wonderful images you’re about to enjoy are very graciously shared by Anne Cannon Photography.
Maggie and Alex kept their classic color scheme to black and white. The real showstopper was the Bride’s incredible Hayley Paige gown! The rhinestone neck details glimmered in person, but were also so fun to paint. It even had a removable skirt so Maggie could easily go from “princess” at the ceremony to “dancing ready” at the reception! What a fun addition!
Maggie and Alex opted for the Just the Two of Us live painting package and requested I capture them walking up the aisle after they were announced “husband and wife!” They were most excited for their painting to ignore the clear tent they were required to erect for the ceremony. And so, I left it out! Their completed live wedding painting is now the only piece that envisions what the ceremony would have been like without the clear tent. That’s the magic of a live wedding painting!
Of course, we can’t forget the addition of their puppers Dubya and Chaney! Maggie and Alex’s beloved German Shepherds couldn’t celebrate with all of us on their big day, so the painting was the perfect way to honor them.
As you scroll through the images in the blog and get to the final painting at the very end, I hope you see the true joy that radiated from Maggie and Alex throughout every moment of their special day. It was such an honor and privilege to celebrate their day alongside them and create their heirloom painting. Love you two!
I hope you enjoyed Maggie & Alex’s Decatur House Washington DC wedding! Their ceremony exit live wedding painting remains a favorite of mine.
