Last November, on the most beautiful and cool Fall day, Shelby & Trevor celebrated their marriage with their closest friends & family at the picturesque Inn at Willow Grove in Orange, Virginia. Not only was their full gallery of images by Katie Greer Photography absolutely stunning, but every detail was simply perfect!
The couple chose a classic color palette of black and white for their wedding day. Shelby wore a full silk, strapless wedding gown which had… WAIT FOR IT… pockets (I know, that’s the dream, right?!)!!! Trevor wore a timeless black suit paired with a white bow tie. Their florals featured whites and creams complimented by lush greenery. The bridesmaids were gifted with shawls to wear over their dresses to keep them warm on the cool November day. Now, this all sounds dreamy, but wait until I tell you about their live wedding painting.
Shelby, my bride, gifted my live wedding painting service as a surprise to her groom. We chatted about how we could capture them in a first dance pose, but feature the front facade of the Inn at Willow Grove (as opposed to the exterior patio where they actually shared their first dance). However, she had a few incredibly special requests that I was thrilled to accommodate.
Unfortunately, Shelby and Trevor have had a few family members and friends pass on, including grandparents and two of Trevor’s high school friends. Shelby wondered if I could carefully include their likenesses in their painting as a little tribute to the fact that they were all celebrating with the happy couple in spirit. We made it happen! Shelby emailed me a few reference photos of each individual, and I included their portraits into the painting behind the bridesmaids, as if they were all with us watching the happy couple share their first dance. Trevor was floored (you can tell by our hug in Katie’s photos below).
From the most perfect, quaint venue to the candlelit decor, Shelby and Trevor’s big day felt as if it belonged in a fairytale. And the fact that their completed live wedding painting was so hyper personal makes the wedding that much more special. Thank you for inviting me, Shelby and Trevor! I’m wishing you continued years of love and happiness!
