Last June, Melissa and Steve had the most beautiful wedding day at the InterContinental Willard Hotel in Washington, DC. Each time I look back at their final painting and gallery of images beautifully captured by Paperbird Photography, I can’t get over how stunning the entire day was. The girls got ready in the most fun, bright silk robes while the guys shared cigars & shots before the ceremony. Melissa and Steve had the most beautiful and emotional first look. Seriously, just wait until you see Steve’s face… priceless!
The Willard is a very historic and well known hotel establishment here in Washington, DC. Though their reception took place in one of the historic ballrooms wrapped by a classic mural, the couple really infused their personality into the space via the lush florals and candelabras. As a lover of pink myself, I especially appreciated all of the fuchsia. Of course the florals had to make a statement in their completed live painting (scroll to the end to see).
My live wedding painting was actually a gift from the Mother of the Bride. It was her request that the painting be very bright and cheerful. And so, though you’ll notice in the wedding photographs that the lights in the ballroom space were turned off to allow all of the candles to glow, my painting actually captured the room as if it were daytime!
So many congratulations again to Melissa and Steve on their first anniversary! Your day was absolute perfection, and I’m very grateful to have been a part of it!
