Jasmine and Navdeep hosted a beautiful, traditional Sikh wedding ceremony at the Green Acres Arts Center in Cincinnati, OH. To add a special wow factor to their already gorgeous big day, they commissioned their own Sikh live wedding painting! Out of respect to the Holy Book that is displayed under the gorgeous Mandap up front, every guest is requested to remove their shoes and cover their heads. An important thing both Jasmin & Navdeep educated me on prior to their special day is that no one can turn their backs to the Holy Book. This means I couldn’t capture the two of them doing, let’s say, a “walking-up-the-aisle” pose. Instead, I chose to feature them both standing in front of the Holy Book, facing it, and preparing to walk around it. I did the same for their family members that they wanted featured!
I think it is so special that, even through a painting, we were able to honor the traditions of their religion and big day in such a unique way. I also added a little likeness of the Green Acres Arts Center Mansion in the background of their painting (even though, technically, it was behind us). It was too charming not to capture!
As you scroll through the photos of their ceremony, captured beautifully by Catch Motion Photography, you’ll see just how intricate every detail of this Anand Karaj Sikh ceremony was, and how their final painting turned out! I’m so excited to share it with you all here today!!
